The Duramax 3.0L in line six cylinder has brought the GM light duty truck into the future with new vehicle and powertrain technology. The common rail injection has been installed on new technology starting with the engine mount system designed for comfort and less vibration.
The variable nozzle turbocharger has an electronic actuator tied in with a network of communication named Single Edge Nibble Transmission (SENT) protocol for faster communication and diagnostics. The induction system includes the use of a coolant cooled charge air cooler.
This class will cover the systems found in this new engine introduced in 2020 1500 series trucks for Chevrolet and GMC. The enhanced cooling system is named the Active Thermal Management System. Training will be provided on the operation and diagnosis of this system.
The aftertreatment system will be discussed and each component will be taught on operation and diagnosis. This includes the various sensors used such as the NOX and Particulate Sensors. Service and active regenerations will be observed using the scan tool. The SCRoF will be introduced and service procedures will be demonstrated on a live vehicle. Training will include engine design and diagnosis. Lastly, maintenance will be will reviewed and recommended service procedures to follow.
Diagnosis and use of the service manual is essential and vital in performing proper repairs and maintenance. Training will cover proper procedures to follow.
